The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) at the University of Washington is a three-year, 135-credit professional degree designed for students entering architecture from a non-architecture bachelor’s background, combining integrated design with urban issues, tectonics, building science, history, theory, and professional practice. Year 3: Students move toward advanced independent investigation through ARCH 506 Arch Exploration Studio II and ARCH 507 Arch Exploration Studio III, followed by ARCH 508 Arch Research Studio I on the research-studio track, or ARCH 599 Thesis Research Preparation and ARCH 700 Master’s Thesis on the thesis track.
