Program Overview

The Haslam College of Business Ph.D. in finance is a full-time, four- to five-year program. Our faculty are dedicated to offering excellent training for Ph.D. students, and as such, students take advanced coursework, conduct research with faculty and other students, teach classes and complete a dissertation.Learning how to conduct research is the hallmark of a rigorous Ph.D. program in finance. In order to foster research early, our program offers a strong mentoring relationship between faculty and students. Our professors have recent publications in the top four finance journals [the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and our graduate students are encouraged to collaborate with faculty. These collaborative efforts have resulted in a number of top-tier publications for our Ph.D. students.

Additional Information & Requirements

A bachelor s degree from an accredited, four-year program, Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.7, GMAT/GRE scores, 550 on the paper-based TOEFL; 80 on the TOEFL iBT or 6.5 on the IELTS.
