MAT in Education in Middle and High Education

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Tufts University

Program Overview

Tufts University offers a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in a variety of fields for children in grades 5-12. Candidates work closely with faculty and peers across disciplines in a university setting, as well as with a mentor teacher in a school setting, as they begin their preparation for teaching. In order to be effective educators for the 21st century, teachers must learn to understand school from multiple perspectives. These include seeing school from the perspective of policy makers, business leaders, teachers, principals, students, school psychologists, and families. As an MAT candidate at Tufts University, you will be asked to practice re-imagining the possibilities of schooling and what you can contribute as a teacher in a school to help all students to fulfill the promise of their talents and interests.
