Program Overview

Students studying Graduate MS in School counseling will study and learn the six key principles. First is to apply knowledge of biopsychosocialcultural foundations of behavior and evidencebased counseling approaches to diverse individuals and groups. Second is also to apply professional, ethical, and legal standards in their counseling practices. Third is assume advocacy roles for the mental health care of underserved individuals and groups in urban settings. Fourth is integrate selfawareness, counseling roles and reflective practices into a professional counseling identity. Fifth is lead the development and implementation of critical interventions of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program in culturally diverse, urban PK12 schools. Sixth and finally is to provide clinical mental health counseling prevention and treatment services for diverse individuals and groups in community settings.
