Program Overview

Designed for certified in-service teachers (PK-12), the online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (MCI) prepares students for Level II Certification. Offered through partnership with the College's Education Department, the MCI program allows candidates to customize their degree path by selecting a specialized area of study -- Integrative STEM, ESL, Interdisciplinary Autistic Support, or Trauma-Informed Practice.Candidates begin with their specialized content and then complete advanced coursework that emphasizes a constructivist approach, promoting project-based assessments, social-emotional learning, applied practice, and action research.

Additional Information & Requirements

The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (MCI) from Elizabethtown College requires 30-34-credit hours of academic work, including a 3-credit capstone Graduate Seminar with an action research focus. Candidates may select one of four areas of specialization including: Autistic Support, ESL Program Specialist, Integrative STEM Education, or Trauma Informed Practice. The MCI offers two tracks to completion, a full-time one-year program and an accelerated part-time option taking 2+ years. In addition the master's program, Etown also offers a graduate certificate in Curriculum and Instruction. This 15 credit certificate draws from the MCI core courses.
