The program provides comprehensive knowledge on English language teaching and learning, including second language acquisition theories and research, effective and innovative methods of instruction and assessment, and comprehensive knowledge about language, linguistics, language policy, and more. Candidates will leave the program with extensive knowledge and skills to meet the needs of linguistically diverse students in multiple contexts, including mainstream and English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms at the PK-12 levels, ESL with adult learners in the university or community college or organization context, and English as a foreign language (EFL) in the international context.
