This area focuses on the distribution and transport of water among and between land, atmosphere, and oceans, the supply of water for municipal, agricultural, and environmental uses, and water-related hazards such as flooding and drought. Mathematical and computational modeling is germane to research activity in this area as well as professional practice, so course work is designed to develop theory-based mathematical modeling skill, on the one hand, as well as computational modeling skill on the other.
