As a materials engineer, you can be a part of new developments and processes that improve materials properties and performance.Whether you want to improve the environment by producing cleaner energy, improve human health by creating new biomaterials or work on new high-tech products from supercomputers to smartphones, we will give you the skills and experience to succeed.Advances in materials are the basis for technological improvements in nearly every field. Materials engineers apply principles of chemistry and physics to understand the properties of materials, then modify or design new materials with better properties. At ASU, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience early in your education. They offer lab courses almost every semester in their nationally recognized labs and internship opportunities are offered throughout your education. You can also work on research with faculty or pursue internships with local companies.
