The Department of Advanced Studies offers a Master of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in the following Curriculum and Instruction areas Educational Technology, Elementary Education, Multilingual Education, Reading, and Secondary Education. For current teachers in the field, a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction will strengthen your skills and provide practical training and knowledge that can be applied in your own classroom. Each of the areas of concentration offer a variety of classes from which to select, customizing your learning to best meet your needs. The researchbased program explores a variety of teaching methods. Areas of study include literaturebased instruction, research and trends, multicultural education, reading assessment and evaluation as well as introducing a myriad of teaching strategies. The classes are designed to meld theory and practice that allow for successful application in the field.
At the graduate and postbaccalaureate level a minimum score of 550 on the paperbased exam or a score of 80 on the internet (TOEFL iBT) version is required. A fouryear college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate; A grade point average of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree; A grade point average of at least 2.5 (A = 4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
