Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or others familiar with applicant’s academic potential. One year of a foreign language at the university level (may be taken while in graduate residence). Résumé. A one to two-page goal statement (300-1000 words) A researched literary analysis or equivalent essay of approximately ten pages, with an explanatory cover memo of no more than one page  A minimum score of 577 paper-based; 233 computer-based; 91 Internet-based in TOEFL ; or 7.0 IELTS is required.
