The Department of Geological Sciences provides an educational and professional researchbased resource for the campus and community relevant to critical petroleum, mining, agricultural and environmental issues uniquely addressable by the study of the Earth. We provide an outstanding education for our majors in preparation for the diverse and ample career opportunities available to them and we provide the local community with a substantive expertise to help solve problems critical to the future development of the southern San Joaquin Valley and environs.
Have completed a fouryear college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association,Have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 (A4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted; and. Have satisfactorily met the professional, personal, scholastic, and other standards for graduate study, including qualifying examinations, as appropriate campus authorities may prescribe.
