The MA program in Spanish combines Spanish, Spanish American and Mexican American literature, linguistics and culture. All programs have a research component: candidates for the master's degree in Spanish write a thesis.The program has two tracks: literature and culture, and linguistics. It is possible to focus course work in one of two areas within the linguistics track:-sociolinguistics-second-language acquisition and applied linguistics.
