The Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies offers work leading to a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Spanish. This program is designed to meet the needs of licensed elementary, middle, and high school teachers, as well as those who do not yet hold an Illinois Teaching License. A concentration in Heritage Language is available to students pursuing the MAT Spanish degree. The department also offers degrees in Hispanic Studies at both the master s and doctoral levels.
Application A 4 years bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) earned at an accredited college or university is required. Official yearly or semester wise mark sheets for each examination attempt, including failed or repeated exams. Official university-issued certification of degree and date awarded. GPA 3.5 out of (4.0 scale) Personal Statement (300 words) 3 Letters of recommendation Sample of Writing in Spanish TOEFL iBT: 80 (Listening 17, Writing 21, Reading 19, Speaking 20) OR IELTS 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each section
