Program Overview

The Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Program is a two-year program designed to prepare students to recognize, diagnose, treat, and manage health care issues of physically active patients. The go al of the program is to produce athletic trainers who are highly qualified and ethical health care professionals. This is an entry level program, and no prior coursework in athletic training is required. Clinical education is based on a team approach and emphasizes critical thinking, learning and assessment. Students gain clinical education experiences both on and off campus. These experiences prepare students to work in a number of settings with a wide variety of patients and medical professionals.
