The Rehabilitation Counseling Program is fully accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) and implements its curriculum in accordance with these standards. The curriculum emphasizes the development of strong counseling skills as well as the acquisition of a broad spectrum of information needed to assist persons with severe disabilities in reaching their full potential. In the rehabilitation counseling program at the South Carolina State University, we train students to help individuals with disabilities achieve equality in all facets of society. Our graduates work in the field as counselors and administrators, assisting individuals with disabilities to attain employment, well-being and optimum independence. Our goal is to provide you the best educational experience possible in a strong student-centered environment. Upon graduation, you re also eligible for national certification as a rehabilitation counselor and state licensure as a professional counselor.
