Program Overview

The University of Maine History Department offers MA and PhD programs of study in a wide range of fields. MA areas of concentration include U.S., Canadian, European, and East Asian history; environmental history; the history of labor, technology, and immigration; women s history; international history; the history of cartography; and spatial and digital history. The PhD program specializes in U.S. history, Canadian-American history (including borderland studies), and international history. Graduate students also organize conferences and other events through the HGSA.
