Program Overview

The program is designed to equip students with theoretical and analytical skills needed to critically analyze social media users, platforms and infrastructures using a wide-range of methods and frameworks ranging from software studies to affect theory and studies focusing on big data, algorithms and protocols. The program responds to the transformation of culture stemming from the growth of social media platforms and practices, and the concurrent growing need for critical analysis and reflection on these topics. They welcome scholars who want to move from the purely discursive to other forms of media making as research and creative inquiry.
