Program Overview

The Master of Medical Science is a one-year specialized graduate program. It is designed to prepare graduates with diverse academic, scientific, and professional skill sets which will open doors to multiple careers in medical and biomedical field and academic pathways. The program will prepare graduates to pursue further academic training in medicine, professional health school and doctorates in medical sciences by completing a rigorous combination of multidisciplinary coursework. Students will build strong knowledge of basic medical sciences through a challenging curriculum developed by experienced basic and clinical science faculty at the UTRGV School of Medicine. The core curriculum includes Human Anatomy, Medical Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Statistics and Genetics, Introduction to Clinical Research, Ethics in Biomedical Research, and Recent Advances in Biomedical Science.
