Program Overview

Our program options prepare the graduate in either public health nursing or school health nursing. The program specialization is designed to prepare the graduate to promote and protect the health of the population using knowledge from nursing, social, and public health sciences. PHNs engage in population-focused practice and apply public health concepts of prevention at the individual, family and community level. Students engage in the competent use of the nursing process to assess and diagnose health problems of populations and aggregates in order to design programs to facilitate optimal wellness.
