Program Overview

Students educated in speech-language pathology are expected to demonstrate excellence in academic and clinical areas upon completion of all required courses and clinic experiences. Completion of the program involves five consecutive semesters for those with a background in speech-language pathology or seven consecutive semesters for those without. The program provides academic and clinical training for professionals who assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent speech, language, voice and fluency (stuttering) problems. These disorders may be the result of a stroke, brain injuries, birth defects, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, mental retardation, dementia, hearing loss or socio-emotional problems.
