The master of science for teachers program is primarily designed for secondary school teachers in the physical sciences and mathematics. The department of mathematics and statistics offers programs leading to the M.S. in applied mathematics, either with or without a thesis, the master of science for teachers degree, and the Ph.D. in Mathematics. The M.S. in applied mathematics can be pursued with either a mathematics or a statistics emphasis, while the Ph.D. in mathematics can be pursued with an emphasis in mathematics, computational and applied mathematics, or statistics.
