In this course, the student will become familiar with the different types of charter parties utilized by the shipping industry for chartering both cargoes and vessels. The main focus of the course will be on the duties of the owners and charterers under time and voyage charter parties, and the legal basis for disputes under both U.S. and English law. The course will be taught by Jason P. Waguespack of the firm Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith. (1 credit).
