2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Tulane University

Program Overview

This course covers aspects of European and German environmental regulation that are relevant for transatlantic legal practice. Topics include the European Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which established a European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and related product stewardship requirements, the environmental impact assessment needed for larger infrastructure projects (e.g. wind farms, oil and gas exploitation or storage facilities for hazardous substances), and environmental protection requirements in relation to Natura 2000 (the largest network of protected areas in the world designed to offer sanctuaries for Europe's most valuable species). The materials covered will draw on the work of the instructor, who practices law in one of the magic circle law firms in Berlin.
