Program Overview

This course covers the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure and their application in litigation before the federal courts. Substantive topics include, but are not limited to: post-trial motions preparatory to appeal, perfecting an appeal, standards of review and jurisdiction. There is also a simulation component that will entail writing a brief and presenting argument. The course will be taught by Deborah Pearce, a 1993 graduate of Tulane Law School. She is a partner in the law firm of Pearce & Powell. (1 credit).
