Program Overview

The seminar focuses on the causes of the financial crisis, the government s immediate actions to address the crisis, and the legal responses that followed the crisis including the passage of Dodd-Frank, changes to the regulation of financial institutions, and various forms of government and private litigation. The course addresses many of the different political arguments surrounding the crisis, including arguments concerning whether the crisis was caused by too much or not enough government interference with markets, arguments concerning the proper use of TARP and other federal funds, and arguments concerning appropriate preventive measures.
