The Master of Science in Biological Sciences is a twoyear program that emphasizes high level training in the biological sciences through coursework and the completion of an original researchbased thesis project. The program offers students an opportunity to obtain advanced academic and research experience in specialized areas of biology and is suitable for students wishing to gain higherlevel employment or continue to higher level academic pursuits. The faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences offers a diverse range of research interests, and students will work with a faculty advisor to design and execute their thesis project. The department maintains high expectations and standards for professional conduct and productivity pushing students to meet their specific goals.
At the graduate and postbaccalaureate level a minimum score of 550 on the paperbased exam or a score of 80 on the internet (TOEFL iBT) version is required. A fouryear college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate; A grade point average of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree; A grade point average of at least 2.5 (A = 4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
