The Genetics and Genomics Program comprises faculty encompassing an array of multidisciplinary fields in genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics, and is partnered with the newly established Institute for Systems Genomics. Areas of research focus include: bioinformatics, chromosome structure and function, comparative genomics and genome evolution, developmental genetics, molecular evolution, sex chromosome function and evolution, control of transcription, modulation of noncoding RNAs, human genomics, animal models for genome biology, centromere biology, epigenetics and the regulation of genome expression. 1. Plan A- Thesis: The Graduate School requires a minimum of at least 15 credits of content course work beyond the baccalaureate (or its equivalent) in the same or a closely-related field of study (exclusive of any required Related Area). The Plan of Study should be completed, signed by the student and advisory committee members, and submitted to the Graduate School for approval when >12 credits of course work have been completed.2. Plan B- Coursework: The Graduate School requires a minimum of at least 24 credits of content course work beyond the baccalaureate (or its equivalent) in the same or a closely-related field of study (exclusive of any required Related Area). The Plan of Study should be completed, signed by the student and advisory committee members, and submitted to the Graduate School for approval when >12 credits of course work have been completed.
