The graduate program in Molecular & Cellular Biology offers three degree programs, described below. Most students who wish to pursue independent careers in academics or industry enroll in the PhD program. It is NOT necessary to obtain the MS or MA degree before entering the PhD program. The MS degree also involves research leading to a thesis, and typically leads to a technician-level job or admission to a PhD or health professions program. The MA degree is primarily based on formal coursework and prepares students for entrance to health professions or other secondary programs.
