Program Overview

The Genetic Counseling Master's Program (GCMP) at Rutgers University is a 22 month graduate program for students wishing to pursue a career in the growing and exciting field of genetic counseling. Our training involves rigorous coursework, a variety of clinical rotations offered throughout the state, and a Master's research project. Housed within the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Program, our program provides students with resources from the Graduate School New Brunswick, as well the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. Our dedicated academic and clinical faculty are experienced genetic professions, representing a variety of specialties. As the only genetic counseling training program in New Jersey, our students have the opportunity to work with a network of talented genetic counselors working in a great variety of professional settings.
