MA in Political Science

The graduate curriculum is designed to serve the individual needs of students as they prepare for the variety of opportunities that the field offers. Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of the dynamics and institutions of political life and learning the methods necessary for empirical and qualitative research and analysis. Graduate students receive a great deal of individual attention and are able to work closely with faculty members.It is also possible for students to work in other departments and to earn interdisciplinary degrees. Students can pursue a Master s degree through El Instituto and a graduate certificate in human rights can be jointly earned through the Human Rights Institute or through Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). These programs may include language training as well as courses in the Departments of History, Sociology, Economics and others. The facilities of the Roper Center also provide an excellent opportunity for students to shape their graduate work so that they are able to master the techniques of survey research through participation in the ongoing studies of The Roper Center and CONNPOLL.
