The Department of History offers graduate research leading to a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree. The major study areas are the Americas, Asia, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. The program is designed as structured, flexible and individual preparation for becoming a professional researcher. It will help students develop the core skills needed by an arts, humanities or social sciences professional researcher of the future, which are valued by both academic and non-academic employers. The History degree gives you the opportunity to explore the past from many different angles including political, economic, social and cultural history and to explore the interaction between history and other disciplines, such as politics, anthropology and archaeology. There s ample scope throughout to pursue personal interests and experiment with different historical approaches.
A master's degree with a minimum overall grade of B, First Class or First Division in all degrees, GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 0.0-4.33) or the equivalent, First Class or First Division in all degrees, TOEFL ibT of 93 with minimum of 20 in each category, IELTS of overall band score of 7.0 of the academic (NOT general) test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section
