Program Overview

Clinical Psychologists are registered or licensed health professionals who work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups who experience cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and mental health problems.They conduct assessments, provide therapy and supervision, consult with other mental health professionals, do research, and design and evaluate interventions based on research. A PhD is the minimum educational requirement to become registered or licensed to practice as an independent clinical psychologist in most jurisdictions in North America. Typically, students enter graduate programs in clinical psychology after obtaining an Honours Degree in Psychology. Admission is competitive. Students who are most successful in clinical programs are academic high-achievers with strong interest in the science of human behaviour, well-developed interpersonal skills, and the desire to help improve the lives of others through careers in research and professional practice.
