Developmental Biology is the study of the processes by which complex organisms develop from fertilised eggs. The programme provides key transferable skills in areas such as commercial awareness, academic writing and public engagement. Specific interests include: patterning and organogenesis; the developmental role of genes involved in human diseases including epidermal, heart and craniofacial defects; cell signalling. Research in Nanjing investigates the fundamental events underlying normal development and how these are subverted in disease.
