The Doctoral Programme in Population Health (DocPop) is multidisciplinary and includes a variety of scientific and methodological approaches. The research focuses on the causes and consequences of population health and wellbeing. The Programme combines a broad scope of relevant fields of health and medical sciences including public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, population genetics and genetic epidemiology, occupational health, general practice and primary health care, health services research, forensic medicine, public health nutrition, substance use disorders, geriatrics, sociology, social psychology and social pharmacy. The research within the Programme aims at health promotion and disease prevention at the population level. The programme offers high quality doctoral level education and produces competitive research specialists and experts, who, after completing their doctoral training, are able to meet the needs of working life

If you have completed or are completing your degree, an official transcript of records must be submitted to the Admissions Services of the University of Helsinki by the awarding institution, IELTS of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in the writing section, TOEFL IBT 92, a minimum score of 22 in the writing section, TOEFL PBT 580.

The Doctoral Programme in Population Health provides its doctoral candidates with the qualifications for working as professional researchers, as well as for other demanding expert positions. In addition to working as researchers in universities and research institutions, doctoral graduates find employment in management and expert positions in government agencies, health care and population health organizations, as well as the food and pharmaceutical industries.
