Program Overview

The aim of cognitive science is to research cognitive abilities such as perception, thinking, planning, learning, speaking and acting. The young discipline of cognitive science is primarily concerned with the scientific study of the brain and mind, both experimentally and theoretically. Furthermore, it is about the explanation of human language and non-verbal behavior, the formation of artificial intelligent systems and the investigation of perception and motor skills. Methodologically, a field of tension is thus defined that ranges from mathematical methods to psychological and neuroscientific experiments to computer models of mental processes and philosophical reflection. The disciplines involved include cognitive psychology, neurobiology, neuroinformatics, artificial intelligence,The doctoral program offers outstanding students the opportunity to conduct research in cutting-edge areas of cognitive science while engaging them in a curriculum that systematically supports their progress and allows for a doctorate within three years.
