Students are required to write a research thesis which should make original contributions to Applied English Linguistics. Students are expected to have a good command of English, the official language of the thesis. In addition to the thesis, students must pass two qualifying examinations within a specified period of time before they can be advanced to PhD candidature.

Applicants should have majored in Linguistics, or a language-related field. Applicants who do not hold a Master s degree awarded by this University or a recognized university are required to have completed the first-year course of study of the Master s programme before they are considered for admission. Applicants for PhD degrees in English (Applied English Linguistics) should have had at least one year of professional experience in a relevant field. Obtained a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.TOEFL: 550(Paper Based)/79 ( Internet Based), IELTS(Academic):6.5, GMAT(Verbal): Band 21.
