Program Overview

This department is from the History Department of the Imperial College of Taipei Imperial University set up by the Japanese colonial government. It is the first university history teaching and research institution in Taiwan. By the time of the defeat of Japan in 1945, the history of Taipei's Imperial History was only 17 years old, but there were famous teachers in the fields of Chinese history, Western history and Japanese history. In November 1945, the department was reorganized into the Department of History of Taiwan University, and later renamed the Department of History.
