Program Overview

Our Virology department is the first founded veterinary virology department in Turkey in 1968. Researches about Diagnostics, epidemiology and pathogenesis of viral infections of domestic animals are done in our department. Our laboratories have current equipments and after finishing our new BSL-3, zoonotic diseases will been able to work on. Also, having a wide cell culture collection in our department facilitates working on virus isolation so that the department has a lot of native virus strain belongs to different family. Our laboratory where all of the serological tests could be put in practice, has a molecular virology laboratory to investigate on genetics and antigenic features of virus. Our department is the leader with its facilities in this area in Turkey and it performs the studies using the sources that having from national and international the projects. Our department aims at solving problems of veterinaries and management owners about viral disease in accordance with its the researching, opening the scientific innovation, following the developments structure. Moreover, it provides PhD and Master programs for the students who are not veterinary such as medical doctor, pharmacist, dentist and biologist. Six professor is working in our department at the moment.
