Surrey provides postgraduate researchers in dance with a supportive and collegiate research experience within our conservatoire, the Guildford School of Acting (GSA). The research programme in Dance prepares you for success at each stage of the development of your PhD project. The structure is designed to provide intensive graduate preparation for a future career and is suitable for either part-time or full-time candidates. Completion of the programme entails submission of a thesis, the submission of practice or a practice research curated portfolio, and an oral viva with external examiners.

A good honours degree and usually an MA in a relevant arts subject or appropriate professional experience, GCSE English Language grade C or Grade 4, ATAS certificate, TOEFL ibT 92 overall with 20 in each component, IELTS Academic of 6.5 or above (or equivalent) with 6.0 in each individual category. , PTE of 62 overall with 56 in each component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency of 176 overall with 169 in each component, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English 176 overall with 169 in each component, ISE III with a pass in each skill
