The goal of the Ph.D. degree in Computational Science is to train graduate students to have extensive knowledge in computational science and to allow them to acquire expertise in one or more areas of applied mathematical sciences or engineering. Thus the degree provides the student with breadth as well as depth. Graduates should be able to successfully collaborate with scientists in other disciplines. Ideally, students should learn to develop, use, and analyze new computational procedures that can be utilized in a variety of fields.
