PhD Coaching and Teaching Studies

WVU is the only institution in the state of West Virginia to offer a doctorate in Coaching and Teaching Studies. The program educates students to become leaders in specialized areas of the industry (i.e., higher education, educational agencies, sport organizations and in school systems).Upon completion of the degree each graduate would know theories and best practices surrounding the disciplines of Athletic Coaching Education and Physical Education Teacher Education, engage in and promote evidence-based practices through the application of rigorous methodology, know how to identify and analyze practice-based problems in Coaching and Teaching Studies and generate real-world solutions, engage in reflective practice to implement change in their professional practice and within their organizations and provide effective leadership to their respective organizations.
