PhD in Electrical engineers design, develop, test and supervise the manufacture of sophisticated electrical and electronic systems such as: cell phones, iPods, digital TVs, medical imaging, smart appliances, automobiles and advanced satellite systems. Many electrical engineers also work in areas closely related to computers. Areas of specialization include: a) Wireless telecommunications, controls and signal processing, b) Electric power and power electronics, c) Analog, mix-signal integrated circuit design and VLSI systems, d) Electro-physics, optics, microwave and nano-engineering, e) Biomedical imaging, nano-bio systems and genomic signal processing.
