This program offers research opportunities in areas of science and engineering that cross traditional program boundaries, with an emphasis on systhesis and characterization of nanoscale materials. These include a broad range of areas including: systhesis and characterization of thin films, fullerenes and nanotubes, molecular templates, self-organizing nanostructures, polymers and polymer nanoparticles, using scanning probe microscopy, physical and chemical vapor deposition methods, micromechanicss, molecular beam mass spectrometry, and computational methods.
