PhD in English in Creative Writing

Students with an M.A. or M.F.A. enter the Ph.D. program. The URI English Doctoral Program educates men and women to enter a variety of professional fields. Graduates go on to careers in teaching, publishing, writing, film production, medicine, business, law, and various positions in academia. Ph.D.s have an excellent record of placement in tenure-track university positions. Perhaps more importantly, our English Graduate Program strives to help students see that they are engaged in lifelong learning processes, not only for themselves, but with and for people in the world around them.
