Program Overview

Dental school is a four-year commitment. For the first three years of the program, you will find yourself attending classes, labs and clinics in Ledyard E. Ross Hall, the School of Dental Medicine's state-of-the-art building on ECU's Health Sciences Campus. Ross Hall offers the latest in educational technology, patient care simulation, patient care clinics, and video teleconferencing. During your second year, you will begin the clinical phase of your education gaining hands-on experience providing care for patients from the surrounding area. You will continue to develop your patient care skills throughout your third year, and you will learn how to be a leader of the dental team. The School of Dental Medicine is at the forefront of improving the health and quality of life of all North Carolinians. Not only can the school offer you state-of-the-art facilities on campus, we can also offer you the experience of treating patients in community-based dental centers in rural areas across the state; a model unique in North Carolina and the U.S.
