Program Overview

The University at Albany offers a Ph.D. program that allows students to receive a solid grounding in philosophy while concentrating on one of two areas of specialization: Knowledge and Representation or Values and Society.The Knowledge and Representation specialization focuses on contemporary and historical accounts of representational systems: cognitive, linguistic, aesthetic, and cultural. The Values and Society specialization focuses on the problems of moral and political values in relation to their social context.
