Program Overview

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers a unique PhD degree program in Medicinal Biochemistry. Students in the program take coursework and participate in mentored research to develop a fundamental understanding of the biochemical principles that direct the discovery, design and development of new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Several areas of research emphasis are open to students in the program, including Bioanalytical, Biophysical, Synthetic Organic, and Natural Products and Integrative Medicine. In addition, opportunities to take part in Internships with local companies are available as part of the training.
