Program Overview

The Department of Chemistry has as its main goal the education and training of professional chemists for entry into industry, government, or the academic world. Graduate students pursue research-oriented programs of study leading to the Ph.D. or M.S. degrees. The doctoral programs are administered through the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Students can apply to either the Chemistry or the Biochemistry doctoral program. Coursework is completed at the Graduate Center. Research is conducted on the City College campus, in the laboratory of the student's mentor.
