Program Overview

The Chemistry Department at WVU includes research in the areas of analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry. Research is a key focus of the 22 faculty members who comprise the department. From July 2011 to June 30, 2012, combined research awards to the department totaled $2.48 million, from funding agencies including NIH, NSF, EPA, DoE, ONR and ACS-PRF. This level of research funding affords graduate students the opportunity to receive on-the-job training on cutting-edge research projects. The moderate size of the department creates an atmosphere of close interaction between the faculty and graduate students.
