The Department of Anthropology at MU emphasizes evolutionary and ecological perspectives. We are interested in answering big questions about human behavior and evolution using innovative methods and techniques. The degree programs use scientific methods and hands-on research opportunities for graduate students. Topical areas of specialization include human behavioral ecology, computational modeling, cooperation and social networks, demography, functional morphology, stone and ceramic artifact analysis, genetics, epidemiology, biomedical anthropology, and zooarchaeology.
